Building a donor egg bond doesn't start at birth; it begins in every intentional choice made to bring a child home. In this episode, I share my "First Hello" letter, written for the moment the "soon" finally became forever. We explore the truth that motherhood isn't defined by genetics, but by the breath, the waiting, and the "heart-work" that leads you to that first embrace.

The Emotional Evolution: This is part of an ongoing series of letters tracing our journey from donor searching to parenthood. Each letter captures a specific milestone in the reality of donor conception, offering a raw look at how we navigated the path to the ultimate joy of becoming a family.

To my dearest child,

I want to tell you about the moment the 'soon' finally became... forever.

There you finally were.

Right in front of me.

I know the world says I became a mother that day,

but the truth is...

I had already been your mother for a long time.

I was your mother in every choice I made to get you here.

I was your mother in every breath I took while I waited for you.

I looked at you and I realized

that every person who had helped us,

and every part of our story...

was simply the path that led you into my arms.

As I held you close for the first time,

I finally got to say the only thing that really mattered:

'I see you.' I’m so glad you’re the one who is here, and I am so thankful that you’re finally home.

I love you,

Your Mom
